Build401 Branding

Build 401 are a specialised team based in Boronia who are 100% committed to providing quality, creative bespoke homes at competitive prices.

Avalanche Creative were approached by Build 401 to give their branding a complete makeover.

We started with developing their personality through a logo and tagline – “Quality living, on time and on budget”. This sums up exactly what they do in one simple sentence.

Next we developed all their corporate stationery based on their new brand identity, then moved on to their website.

Again, we’ve built their website in the easy to use WordPress Content Management System, which we love here at Avalanche – so easy for clients to use and update.

Parker Brent Branding

Avalanche have recently completed the rebranding of Parker Brent Institute, an education centre who train and qualify staff for industries. Recently they’ve moved their focus towards the construction industry and wanted a refresh of their brand to work with their new company vision.
We took to the drawing board and after a few versions, came up with this colourful geometric look. Very architectural. Very ‘Melbourne’, you may say!

In other news, did you see the Chinese imitation of the Melbourne logo?

Signage is now up for Ventura Coaches

Ventura Coaches Signage for Oakleigh

Avalanche have been working with Ventura Bus for a while now, taking care of some of their marketing and branding. You may previously recall our work on the hybrid electric bus which was a fun awareness campaign for Australia’s first hybrid bus. Also fun was being able to ride on the bus (and other ventura buses) and see our posters and flyers up on the windows!

We also worked on revamping some of the branding and signage for Ventura Coaches, the Coach arm of Ventura Bus. We reworked their positioning statement to really drive home (haha) their core message: “relax, we’ve got it covered”.

With three depots around Melbourne, they also needed signage so that clients could find them easily, and to get maximum exposure on the main roads! The signs are starting to go up… so here’s the first one in Oakleigh!

Michelle Lanigan Real Estate

Posted 20 August 2010 | Branding, Projects | Tags: , , | 0 comments

The new signboard for Michelle Lanigan Real Estate is now up!

When we were asked to design a signboard, we looked at the original branding and were uninspired, feeling there was no value in building on a brand that didn’t encapsulate what Michelle was about. The rest of Boronia was also uninspired as the old signboard would be regularly defaced and drawn on!

Andy created a fresh new logo and colour palette that was bright and friendly. Friendly fonts and curved lines indicate that commercial real estate shouldn’t be the cold, grey industry that it’s sometimes portrayed to be! Sometimes it’s just the little things that make all the difference! Pete seems to think so too!

So what’s in a name?

Posted 09 June 2010 | Articles, Avalanche Creative, Branding, Marketing, SEO | Tags: , , , , | 0 comments

So what’s in a name: Getting a good descriptive domain name!
Registering or owning a business name does not entitle you to own the same URL.
A recent example in TheAge.com.au

After a Tennessee police department let its website expire, the site was snatched up by Brian McCrary who uses it to gripe about speed cameras. The site shows a smiling cartoon police badge clutching greenbacks. It also posts gripes from those who’ve been caught speeding.

So remember to keep your Domain registration up to date!

In the great 90′s Domain grab, a whole load of Domains were grabbed by web prospectors or Cyber Squatters as we once called them. This has made it much more of a challenge to find ‘Good’ available domain names, but it’s important to know that you spend less to market and brand descriptive URLs.  Remember that you need to appeal to both Humans and Web Robots, so a good web address needs to be memorable, easy to spell, simple to say, hear and read, but most importantly your URL should be descriptive and relevant to your product or service.

Just like any post gold rush, there is always a gem laying around if you know where to look.

“I’m often amazed at some of the domain names that still haven’t been taken and equally frustrated by domains that have, but just sit there with a coming soon notice”.

The key is to do a bit of creative thinking and make a mind map of descriptive terms, and then just test the availability on a domain shopping site. If your a location based business, then narrowing down your search by using the location name i.e. (AvalancheBoronia) will inversely widen up your opportunities.

“Brand creation is a big part of what we do at Avalanche Creative Solutions, we go through a long and painstaking process of name creation and then cross referencing with available domain names as well as Business and Trade mark searches. Sometimes we strike gold and sometimes we have to go back to the creative thinking stage”

Sites like www.godaddy.com offer ‘Domain Auctions’ but this can be initially expensive. Look at premium domains – you will pay more initially but thereafter the cost to renew is exactly the same.
